theScore Bet is an average sportsbook that has the potential to be great. theScore Bet doesn't contain much of the awesome stats and info that theScore Media app has used to attract users over the last seven years. theScore Bet offers basic bets and sports, but bettors looking for player prop bets and sports like cricket or darts will have to look elsewhere.

Top Takeaways for 2020

After spending six months testing thirty online sportsbooks, here are our top findings on theScore Bet:

  • theScore is a media company that has over 90M monthly users. theScore Bet is the company's sports betting app.
  • If you are a die-hard user of theScore app to check scores, news, and game updates, theScore Bet is an enticing betting option due to cross-app bet tracking.
  • theScore Bet contains only a fraction of the player info and stats that make theScore media app so great, a missed opportunity.
  • Golf, tennis, and MMA/UFC are not available to bet.
  • theScore Bet offers excellent odds on almost every sport.
  • theScore Bet is currently available to residents of New Jersey.

Review Summary

theScore Bet is best suited for die-hard theScore media fans, who will enjoy switching between the two apps to bet and track games in real-time. Unfortunately, theScore Bet is average and fails to incorporate enough features from the media app to leave a lasting impression.

The Score Betting

Bets Offered

Overview - If you only bet on moneylines, spreads, and totals, theScore Bet is a sufficient offering. If you like exotic props and custom bets you should look elsewhere.

Disappointing number of bets Unfortunately, theScore Bet offers few bets outside of moneyline, total, and spread bets. For most NFL, MLB, and Soccer games, there are only five or fewer prop bets. Most sportsbooks offer upwards of 15-20 team and player props. For example, at other sportsbooks, you can bet over/under how many yards Tom Brady will throw for or how many total touchdowns will be thrown in an NFL game.

Cross-app bet tracking If you frequent theScore media app for live scores, play-by-play updates, and news, theScore Bet makes sense as a sports betting option. Bets you place in theScore Bet can be tracked in theScore media app. The teams you highlight as favorites in the media app will automatically be highlighted in theScore Bet app. Real-time scoring and live odds movements align with your live matchup experience between both apps, allowing you to track teams and bets easily.

Cash-out feature The cash-out feature allows you to amend your original bet. Cashing out early allows you to lock in a profit or loss by settling your bet (or a portion of your bet) early, without having to wait for the event to finish.

Sports Offered

theScore Bet offers five sports, the lowest number I've seen a new sportsbook offer. Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer are the only sports offered. College football and basketball are available to bet on, as well as seven different soccer leagues. Golf, tennis, and MMA/UFC are not available to bet.

Live Betting

theScore Bet live betting is bland, which is unfortunate because it has the potential to be amazing. While there is a down and distance tracker and live clock (see image below), theScore Bet does not include play-by-play updates or stats. Users have to use theScore media app for that information, which is a missed opportunity for greatness. In terms of live bets, theScore Bet does not offer any instant bets or play-by-play bets, another missed opportunity.

Customer Service

theScore Bet offers 24/7 live chat, 24/7 phone support, and email responses within 24 hours. My experience with theScore Bet customer service was excellent. Agents responded promptly with detailed answers, providing me with more than what I asked for.

Mobile Betting

theScore Bet app is available for Android and iOS devices. There is not currently a desktop version available to bet on. The mobile app is good, but has the potential to be great. theScore Bet provides bettors with links to game details, stats, and betting info in its media app, theScore.

It would be nice if theScore was able to include some of this information in its betting app, so users don't have to switch back and forth. Regardless, theScore media app is only a click away and provides vital information such as injuries, matchup stats, and game information. The screenshots below are from theScore media app.
